Hey, this is Darrell Stern. Welcome back to The Other Stern Show. This is a very special episode that I’m calling The Reboot Episode. I really want this podcast to grow. I really want many, many, many, many, many, many, many more people to listen to it on a regular basis. Now in order to do that, we’re going to talk about how I’m going to do that, and perhaps that would help you guys out there that are looking at creating media, creating YouTube channels or a podcast or an Instagram feed or all these different things that you want to really grow.

Darrell Stern:
The two keywords we’re going to use today, the two magic words are consistency and persistence. Now, I was just at David Fagan’s amazing icon maker event in Tempe, Arizona, right near Phoenix. By the way, Phoenix, Arizona is an amazing place. And there is a hotel there called the Clarendon hotel near Clarendon Park and this little hotel, it… I’m going off on a tangent if you didn’t notice. This hotel, it’s like the sixties, it’s like 1964, it’s like swag. It’s like swag baby.

Darrell Stern:
The wallpaper and the swag, tiled pool in the middle of it, and it’s like an old crappy motel that they made into a swag place.

Darrell Stern:
So anyway, anyone near Phoenix, go to the Clarendon hotel. Okay, make a reservation. Tell them Darrell Stern sent you from The Other Stern Show and there’ll be like, “Who?” All right, getting back to it. Consistency and persistence. Okay, so consistency would mean a few different things. There is consistency in theme.

Darrell Stern:
In other words, this is what this show is about. Every episode is going to be around this theme so it is always consistent. And the audience builds up because they like what they are seeing and listening to, right? They like this content, this theme, this topic, this philosophy that you have, which is always consistent.

Darrell Stern:
So that’s the first part is to really look at it and say, “Okay, from now on, everything we do from the logos to the podcast, to the memes, to the tweets, to the pins, to the Facebook moving you little post things is all going to be consistent.” Now, it might be good to take some time to build up that library of logos, icons, a color scheme, a branded color scheme.

Darrell Stern:

So consistency. Okay? Now, consistency also has to do with timeline, right? A new show will come out every Tuesday and Thursday at 2:00 PM Mountain Time period and a report. This is going to consistently happen. Okay?

Darrell Stern:
So I will say something else about that. When you’re talking about doing things on a schedule, there are other parts to the schedule that you need to add on, such as, “Hey, on,” let’s say the show is coming out every Thursday. Tuesday is recording day, which will take place between 6:00 and 8:00 AM, right? Wednesday is post-production day. Get this thing ready, get all of the audio files, the description of the podcast with the links in it. And tut-tut, tut-tut all ready to go. And then Thursday morning between what is it? 1:00 and 2:00 PM this is get poured into there and then at 2:00 PM bam, it is hit. It is posted.

Darrell Stern:
Now, great. Now, when we’re talking about marketing consistency and persistence, there are things that come next. Now, let’s focus on podcasts, right? Because I really want this podcast to be consistent and persistent and grow. Okay. So after the podcast is published, or I should say before it’s published, I also have created some short clips from it that have a video with them. You can do this at this company called Headliner.

Darrell Stern:
And it’s H-E-A-D-L-I-N-R, I believe. And I will put the links correctly into the podcast description of this. So what this allows you to do, this neat little gadget app takes some segments of your podcast and make them into little audio clips that have a picture with them. And you’ve probably seen these, they have the audio wave and it’s moving. You can see the audio wave going.

Darrell Stern:
So before launch, right, we have selected some of these clubs. We put let’s say five of them together with some great quotes on them from the guest, right? And we have all those ready to post. And we’re going to maybe do those in two formats, the Instagram format, which is square and the rectangular format. Okay. We might also then say we want to do a YouTube video with the podcast, right?

Darrell Stern:
So we’re going to want to take the track to it, maybe put some slides on it and get ready to have the YouTube video out. What I say with all these different platforms and stuff is I want YouTube subscribers on iTunes, right? And on Google play. But I want YouTube subscribers. I mean, I’m sorry. Wow. I want podcast subscribers. I am not very consistent or persistent in my way. I’m talking about this.

Darrell Stern:
Okay. I want podcast subscribers. So I definitely want people to click on that podcast link. So when we’re talking about putting things on YouTube, I don’t want to put the whole episode on, right? I might actually put some of those preview little clip promotional videos I got from the Headliner app out too.

Darrell Stern:
So now we’ve got, okay, record the podcast, listen to the podcast, prep and make some media to go with the podcast, write the description, make the imagery for it, right? Upload it, get it ready to publish, get the social media ready to publish. So then on Thursday at 2:00 PM that goes live. Boom. The social media goes live perhaps on a scheduler too is because we’re not just going to put out 50 different posts about this one episode in a day.

Darrell Stern:
Maybe that’s going to go all week. So I’ve got a post on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and then we got maybe on Wednesday we’re doing the preview post for Thursday’s episode, right? So as you can see, as you start to write these things down, you’ve got something that can be consistent.

Darrell Stern:
Now, let’s talk about the other word I mentioned towards the beginning of this podcast. Persistent. Now, to me, being persistent means having the will to do this consistency, right? Having this persistence. Saying, “You know what? This is the philosophy that I am adopting. This needs to be heard by the world, and I am going to be persistent in keeping this schedule going.”

Darrell Stern:
Persistence to me is more about the spirit of it, right? The feeling of it, the excitement you get when you’re making it and producing it and getting ready for it, right? And also that persistence has that goal. Then that goal is, “Hey, I want 40,000 people, 50,000 people to watch this podcast and to listen to this podcast.”

Darrell Stern:
I’m so stuck on thinking about videos. To watch the podcast. Okay? So, this is Darrell Stern with The Big Reboot Episode. I’m going to record another episode that’s going to come out in a couple of more days, which is some background about me because I haven’t really done an episode where I introduced you guys to me.

Darrell Stern:
So I hope this helped you a little bit. I want you to write down and come up with a consistent plan for your branded marketing. And also I want you to think about and meditate on and really concentrate on the philosophy of your persistence.

Darrell Stern:
What is that dream, that goal and what do you know you can visualize and see every day so that you can attach that to this persistence that will be the consistency that you produce your podcast, your YouTube channel, your Instagram posts, and all that?
